Now that Aly & AJ Michalka have parted ways with Hollywood Records, their fans want to know when their band 78 Violet will release a new album and what we can expect from the girls.
They already recorded some tracks for their third album under the Hollywood Records label, but it looks like we won’t be hearing any of those.
In a recent interview AJ Michalka said, “We’re probably not going to release those only because Aly and I have written so much since then. The stuff that we recorded for Hollywood Records with this last record, we learned so much while we were writing it. But we’re writing better things now and we’ve grown so much since then. It sounds crazy because it wasn’t even that long ago, but when you’re a writer and you keep going, everything tends to get better.”
What direction is 78Violet headed?
“We want to make music our way. We want the freedom, we want the control,” Michalka said. “We’re now going to release it as 78Violet, completely separate from Aly & AJ. It’s cool that we can come back as a whole new artist and band, but we really just want to make the best music possible. It all starts with the songwriting, which is where me and Aly have the most fun and the most creativity, and now the most control, which is great.”
AJ is staring in the Walt Disney Pictures film “Secretariat”, which is about the Triple Crown-winning racehorse owner Penny Chenery.
