Emma Watson Removed From Rowing Team

90707M7_WATSON_B-GR_02.jpgIn an interesting article from the Daily Mail, the magazine reveals that Emma Watson was recently removed from her college’s rowing team.

Emma began attending Brown University this last year, insisting she wants to lead a normal student life. Frustratingly, however, that has not always been possible.

Fellow students told the magazine that after arriving on campus last summer, Emma was persuaded by a male member of the university rowing team to become coxswain of the college’s varsity eight crew. Emma agreed and became a regular at the club boathouse or coxing the crew’s boat on the Seekonk river.

But she was then reportedly forced to give up her role after the university discovered their insurance did not cover having on board someone who is conservatively said to be worth £30 million.

The article also reveals that after Emma performed in her first amateur college production of the Chekhov play Three Sisters, the reviewer for the Brown Daily Herald was barred from even mentioning that the character of Irina was played by Emma – much less critique her performance.

Yikes!

The Brown paper mentioned Emma’s name and the character she was playing. They gave Emma a good review. The Daily Mail is rubbish.

It seems so unfair that someone isn’t allowed any semblance of being a normal human being just because of fame. Emma isn’t a crazy party girl like Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton, she’s always tried hard to be as low-key as possible.

It’s too bad that she hadn’t been able to just be a student like everyone else just because she played a part in a successful movie series.

  3. Sandra says:

it’s a little bit of Emmas own Fault too.red carpet,Interviews, making Videos, making Photoshoots etc the last 6 Months. She could have said no to all the Things, but she didn’t.So it’s for sure that a normal College Life won’t work,so it’s her Fault about that too.
If she want to know what a normal Life is,she must take a Break from all this and not just 1 or 2 Months.

and well like it’s written in the Emmawatson.net Forums, she would have gotten standing ovations,if she had forgotten the whole Text or would just been 5 Minutes in the Play, because she is Hermione

Nothing about Emma at Brown in the Daily Mail’s attack-piece is true. (1) She was NOT removed from the rowing team. She was never ON the rowing team. She was never a “regular sight” on the Seekonk River rowing course. She went a couple of times to the boathouse in the first week of school to check out the rowing program and saw that it would take up too much time. (2) She was NOT “forced” to stop University rowing out of concern that “insurance did not cover” her. That is made-up nonsense. (There are wealthier students than Emma at Brown who play more dangerous sports than coxswain in a boat.) (3) There were NEVER “strict instructions” to Brown students not to talk about Emma Watson, an unenforceable decree even if it did not exist only in the imagination of the Daily Mail. And anyway, Brown’s very intelligent student body has had the good sense NOT to trumpet Emma’s activities. IT is the DEARTH of Emma news out of Brown that causes tabloids to make stuff up. (4) The Production Workshop student quoted was referring to a decision taken by PW to avoid the PRESS about Emma’s participation in a Chekhov play. It was NOT a blanket directive from the University. (5) The “Brown Daily Herald” newspaper is entirely independent of the University and so CANNOT be “barred from even mentioning” that she played the role of Irina in the play. Indeed the newspaper REPORTED on her role and reviewed her performance in the issue of 11 March. (6) She does NOT live in a “tiny” room. (7) Her roommate was NOT on the “athletics team” (British English for track and field team). (8) Her boyfriend is NOT the Spanish student the tabloids have anointed as her boyfriend. (9) She has NOT been the “victim of jealousy” from Brown students. On the contrary, Brown students are delighted at how kind and unaffected and normal Emma Watson is. (10) She has NOT had an “awful” time at university. She has had an EXCELLENT time at Brown, is well liked, and has made a lot of good friends. The Daily Mail’s article is a COMPLETE FABRICATION taken from previous tabloid fabrications.

Some people are so gullible. Watson was never on the team.
