Those of you in the know when it comes to jewelry will be no stranger to the name Mujus. The jewelers pieces have been adorned by numerous celebrities (including Hayden Panettiere, Kristen Bell, and Natalie Portman) who aren’t only attracted to the super chic designs but equally that each piece has been created with an eco-conscious philosophy.
For the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Paola Delgado, the creative genius behind Mujus, gathered inspiration from the mountains and ruins of Peru, fusing the contrasting colors of her home country (from bold aquas, lime greens and sultry reds) with the design aesthetic of her Peru.
Each piece is hand-crafted from sustainable materials (namely vegetable ivory from the Amazonian rainforest) and many have interesting backstories. The ‘Misti’ necklace being a case in point. This stunning piece was created with the Misti volcano in Southern Peru in mind, hence its name, and features a bi-color palette reminiscent of the seasonally snow-capped cone of the volcano and its contrasting base.
The new line might be as super chic and luxurious as one would expect of Mujus but true to form Delgado has ensured that it’s not only the pieces themselves that are designed with the environment in mind. Even the packaging and labels are made from 100% recyclable materials.
