Disney Channel Wants You To ‘Let It Shine’

The brand new Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Let It Shine’ is premiering on Disney Channel June 15th. Are you getting excited? From the great music and actors to the story line, I think this movie is going to be a hit for the network.

In celebration of the DCOM, Disney Channel wants all of you to shine! DisneyChannel.com/LetItShine is debuting all new videos and activities that encourage kids to express themselves in their everyday lives.

Here’s a taste of what the website will feature over the next week:

-      A music video for “Guardian Angel” featuring Tyler James Williams and Coco Jones, directed by Chris Applebaum (Rihanna, Selena Gomez & the Scene, Mariah Carey) will be featured on the DisneyChannel.com homepage.

-      Original videos of kids talking about how music inspires them and impacts their lives, friendships and families)

-      In-depth video interviews with the cast talking about their characters and how they prepared for the movie.

-      Exclusive behind the scenes videos

-      Fans will have an opportunity to create their own music slideshow by adding preset images, art they have created and custom messaging to a timeline. They will then be able to select music from a series of tracks that will play behind their creation.

Disney’s Let It Shine: Extended Edition on DVD This August

Have you been seeing the previews for Disney’s Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Let It Shine’ on Disney Channel? It looks like a great movie! The movies premieres on the network June 15th and although it hasn’t aired yet, we already have a DVD release date!

Let It Shine (Extended Edition) is coming to DVD August 7, 2012. If you love music, you’ll love this movie and the DVD, which has an exclusive extended music scene!

Celebrating family and friendship, the story unfolds in Atlanta, Georgia, as Cyrus DeBarge (Tyler James Williams) and his best friend Kris McDuffy (Trevor Jackson) reunite with their childhood friend, teenage singing sensation Roxanne “Roxie” Andrews (Coco Jones), whose music label is sponsoring a songwriting contest at a teen club. Cyrus, who writesmusic under the name “Truth,” crafts a heartfelt and contest-winning rhyme about Roxie but to his dismay, his work is mistakenly attributed to Kris. Lacking the confidence to step forward, Cyrus stands by while Kris not only takes credit for the lyrics, but ultimately begins to win Roxie’s heart too. Now, it’s up to the true poet to overcome self-doubt, seize the opportunity to reveal his authentic self, and pursue his dreams. At the same time, Cyrus must convince his preacher father (Courtney B. Vance) that hip-hop music can convey a positive message.

Available only on the “Let It Shine: Extended Edition” DVD is the exclusive extended scene featuring Cyrus in his first-ever rap battle of the rhymes against his nemesis, Bling, to establish which performer is the more talented verse master. The truth is in the music!

The 12-song “Let It Shine” soundtrack, from Walt Disney Records releasing on June 12th features tracks by songwriters Antonina Armato, David Banner, Andy Dodd, In-Q, J-Doe, Toby Gad, Adam Hicks, Tim James, Steven Jones, Jay L’Oreal, Justin Mobley, Tocarra Phillips, Lindy  Robbins, Thomas Armato Sturges, Dapo Torimiro, Anya Vasilenko, Jon Vella, Lambert “Stereo” Waldrip and Adam Watts.

Disney Channel Begins Production On “Girl Vs. Monster”

Disney Channel has begun production in Vancouver, Canada on the Disney Channel Original Movie “Girl Vs. Monster”. The Halloween-themed movie features Kickin’ It star Olivia Holt. The DCOM will premiere in fall 2012 during the second annual month-long Monstober event.

The adventure begins on Halloween as Skylar, a fearless teenager with a powerful singing voice, prepares for the ultimate Halloween bash with her best friends, Henry and Sadie. The plan for Skylar to sing at the party — with rock band cutie Ryan Dean — is crushed when her parents make her stay home. Then, when she sneaks out of the house, she unknowingly unleashes a monster – Deimata – who is determined to change the fate of Skylar and her family forever. As Skylar’s world is turned upside down, she learns that her parents have been keeping a big secret – that she comes from a long line of monster hunters. Now, it’s up to Skylar and her friends to channel their inner strength and conquer more than just this monster.

The Geeks and The Populars from Disney Channel’s “Geek Charming”

Meet the geeks and the populars from Disney Channel‘s upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Geek Charming“. The movie premieres November 11th at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT and stars Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland and High School Musical’s Matt Prokop. Fun fact: they are a real life couple!

In the movie, spoiled Dylan Shoenfield (Hyland), Woodlands Academy’s most popular junior, accidentally drops her designer handbag into the mall fountain and the school’s film geek, Josh Rosen (Prokop) jumps in to retrieve it. Although Dylan would not usually interact with Josh, to return the favor, she agrees to be the subject of his documentary for the school film contest – with the hope that the film will help her win the coveted Blossom Queen crown. While Josh sets out to make a hard-hitting film about Dylan and her social hierarchy, once the cameras start rolling he sees there’s more to her than meets the eye.
