Today (March 3rd) is Julie Bowen‘s Birthday and modOration wants to say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”. The Modern Family star is turning 42 and it seems her life and career are going fantastic right now. She’s on a very popular show and plays her character Claire Dunphy oh so well.

In honor of her big day, here are a few fun facts about Julie.

Actress Julie Bowen is the middle daughter of Suzanne and John Luetkemeyer, Jr., a real estate developer. Her early education was at Calvert School, Baltimore and Garrison Forest School, Maryland. She moved on to St George’s School, Rhode Island and then attended Brown University, graduating with a BA in Renaissance Studies.

During college Bowen acted in stage productions such as “Guys and Dolls” and “Stage Door”. After graduation she relocated to New York and studied at the legendary Actor’s Studio. Success followed with various TV roles, and in 1996, she appeared as the love interest in Happy Gilmore. Other supporting movies roles followed. However, it was on television that she was destined to make the biggest impact with strong turns in ER, Ed and Boston Legal, amongst others. From 2009, she starred as Claire Dunphy in the hit series “Modern Family”, for which she won an Emmy and Screen Actors Guild award.

Julie is married to Scott Phillips, a real-estate investor, and they have three sons – Oliver and twins Gus and John.

Trivia:

Julie is fluent in Italian.

Went to Costa Rica on her honeymoon. While there, she and her husband helped newly-hatched baby turtles crawl from their nest to the ocean, ensuring that the group survived instead of being attacked by predators.

She is a spokesperson for Neutrogena.

Her husband Scott Phillips, a real-estate investor, proposed Thanksgiving 2003, when she was starring as schoolteacher “Carol Vessey” on TV’s Ed. The two have been married since September 2004.

Julie and her husband, Scott Phillips, became the parents of a boy, Oliver McLanahan Phillips, on April 10, 2007 in Los Angeles. Oliver weighed in 6 lbs. 15 oz. and measured 19 inches long.
