Cute Outfit Ideas: Winter warmers that are versatile and uber chic!

Looking for some cute winter outfits to inspire you for this coming week? Here are some cute ones with high boots.

I’m loving high boots at the moment so I try to take advantage of the cold days here in Florida and use mine. That means that I only get to use them like once or twice a week but I’ll take it, soon it’ll start to get warm so it will be shorts season again! (which I’m so not ready yet… need to go to the gym ASAP). Hope these cute winter outfits inspire you to come up with something cute to wear this week.  :)

5 Must-Have Handbags for Spring

I have a thing for handbags, totes, backpacks – you get the idea. I love to change up my bag depending on what I am wearing and what season it is. There are some phenomenal must-have bags for this spring and two of them I had the chance to see up close and personal.

Here are 5 Must-Have Bags for Spring

1. Be a Jane Marvel Girl!

I am SO a Jane Marvel girl now and am a fan of these handbags for life. The brand carries handbags, travel and cosmetic bags and they help you be super stylish without breaking the bank. Sounds good to me.

First off, let me show you the bag I am now a proud owner of (and slightly in love with!). It’s called the “All Day Long” coated canvas bag.

I love large bags. I just can not carry everything I need in a small handbag. Yes, I have people ask me all the time “What DO you have in there?”. Well – makeup, sunglasses, wallet, electronic tablet, phone…you get the picture. I carry a lot of items around and this Jane Marvel bag is called the “All Day Long” bag for a reason. It is just the right size for me to fit everything I need for the day in it.

I also used it for a trip I recently went on and added a couple of magazines for the road.

Some of the features I love include the three inside pockets and the two outside pockets. It’s so much easier to answer my phone when it’s in one of the outside pockets. That’s one of my criteria for a bag. I don’t know how many times I have dug around a purse looking for my phone and then I miss the call. Has that happened to you? Yes, it’s annoying!

The material on the bag is absolutely amazing. It’s a laminated canvas, so it feels as smooth as butter. Yes, I just compared a handbag to a tub of butter. The material is long-lasting and this is a bag you can count on having in your collection for a very long time.

2. Forever Frogs Messenger Bag

Forever Frogs is a new line of “design it yourself” backpacks, messenger bags, lunch sacks and drawstring bags. Yes, YOU are the designer, which means you get to express your personality. You can even add your own name to the bag. These line of bags are perfect for school, traveling, beach trips, summer camp, sleep overs….anything!

The design choices are endless. Here’s an example of a bag I designed.

You choose all of the details, from the fabric and design to the color of the straps and zipper. My 14 year old daughter has been using her Forever Frogs Messenger bag for school for a few weeks now and not only does she love it and it’s big enough to hold everything, but she has received so many compliments. Random people keep asking her “Where did you get that bag?!”

Not only are the bags themselves high quality and a bag you would be proud to own, but the story of how the company, Forever Frogs, came to fruition is pretty darn amazing and inspirational as well:

Forever Frogs was created by three moms and the best friend of an inspiring little girl, Payton who lost her battle to brain cancer at the young age of 5. A portion of all proceeds are going to the Payton Wright Foundation, created in her honor.

So, as you can see, the proceeds from the bag are well spent. It’s a bag worth owning for so many reasons. Visit their website and go design your own bag!

This handbag is a huge splurge for $880, but I had to mention it for the fun of it. It’s just so pretty! It’s a blue tote from R.B. of McD and it is gorgeous. Bright blues are a fantastic way to add a pop of color to your spring wardrobe.

Tips on ‘How to Buy a Purse the Right Way’ by Megan Johnson

Have you ever bought a purse on a whim? Maybe it was one of those ‘But it’s on sale!’ moments that later you regretted. Or you looked at it as an ‘investment’ piece. (My husband still doesn’t get that.) Been there. Done that. Swore I’d put more thought into my purchases from then on.

There are actually a number of factors to keep in mind when you are shopping for a new purse. I’ve explained to my husband and male friends that buying a purse is like buying a car. You don’t just buy the first one you see! You wouldn’t buy a piece of junk car because it was, let’s say, red and you’ve always seen yourself scooting around town in a red car. Nope. There is more to it than that.

We have some great tips to share with you on ‘How to Buy a Purse the Right Way’ from Megan Johnson, lead buyer of is the premier online site where you can bid and win VIP luxury experiences, designer goods, and hot electronics for an average of up to 98% off. How to Buy a Purse the Right Way

Durability- No matter how much you plan on spending on a bag, you’re going to want to make sure that the purse is worth what you’re paying. Inspect the material, the seams and the zippers. If there are any signs of wear, tear or weakness in the bag it probably won’t be a bag that will give you much mileage.

Size- Think about the essentials you always keep in your bag and make sure that your purse has enough room to accommodate them. If your purse doesn’t fit the bare essentials it defeats the purpose of carrying around a bag. Depending on whether you’re going to use the bag at work or when going out on the town can help you determine what size makes the most sense for you.

Color- When you buy a purse it’s important to find one that will match well with your wardrobe. If you buy a bag that doesn’t mesh well with your style you’ll find yourself spending more cash on a new wardrobe to match it, or worse yet, hardly using it. Also consider your own clumsiness factor; be sure to veto a light colored bag if you have the tendency to spill.

Functionality- Before buying a purse be sure to take into consideration how secure your belongings will be held inside. If you’re a city gal, or just generally around hoards of people, a zipper or button top is a wise decision to avoid spillage or stolen goods.

Portability- A purse is meant to be carried around and it’s important you consider how you’re most comfortable carrying your purse. Do you prefer carrying your bag on your shoulder or on the crook of your arm? Consider the length of the handles and how they coincide with how you like carrying your bag.

Quality- Although you can get some great deals without breaking the bank, be sure that the quality of the bag is still there. It might be worth spending an extra few dollars to ensure the longevity of your purchase. If you want a bit of a cheat sheet to help you make that decision, one approach is figuring out the “cost per wear” which can be determined by dividing the price of an item by the number of times you think you’ll use it. Not surprisingly, sometimes the cost per wear for a more expensive purse will be less than an inexpensive purse due to the quality and its durability. Explore your options which might allow you to purchase a higher-quality bag than your budget would usually allow. Check upscale consignment stores, flea markets (beware of fakes!) or websites like which allow bidders to score designer bags for 80-90% off retail value.

Style- If you’re looking for a purse that you’ll be able to use for many seasons, try to avoid any overly-trendy purses that you’ll be content wearing for a few months, but will likely end up in next year’s potential Halloween costume pile. Trendy purses often have more embellishments (fringes, buttons, large hardware) over a more classic, clean style.
